Photographs, permission, and the group chat

The Befundo team · June 17, 2026 · 2 min read

Every class takes photographs, and almost every dispute about them comes from the same place. Consent was collected once, in general terms, and then used for something the family hadn't pictured.

The quick answer

  • Befundo asks one question per class: Photos and video. It covers your Befundo page, your own site and social media.
  • It's always optional for families. Saying no never affects the place.
  • You see who hasn't agreed on the class's list, so you can keep them out of shot.
  • A group chat isn't private. Assume anything posted there will travel.

One permission, stated plainly

A business switches on Photos and video for a class under What families agree to. Families then see the full wording when they register:

The business may photograph or film this class and use the results to show what they do — on their Befundo page, their own site, or social media.

It's one clear question rather than a general "we take photos". Families know exactly what they're saying yes to, including social media.

A no isn't a problem to solve

If a family declines, that's the end of it. No follow-up, no asking again next term, no group photo with one child cropped out in a way everybody notices. There are good reasons a family might not want their child's image circulated, and none of them are your business.

On Befundo, a no never blocks registration. The class's student list shows staff who has agreed and who hasn't, and staff are expected to keep that child out of shot.

Practical notes

  • Default to no faces in anything public unless you have a specific yes.
  • A class chat isn't private. Assume anything in it will travel.
  • Check the list before you post, not after.
  • Never let a photo permission stop a child taking part.
The last one is the important one. A child whose parents said no to photographs still gets to be in the show.

Turn it on

For businesses: open a class's Settings, tick Photos and video under What families agree to, and press Save.
