Routines: small things, done regularly
The Befundo team · August 17, 2026 · 3 min read

Some things aren't a task you finish once. Reading for twenty minutes, practicing piano three times a week, packing the school bag: these are routines. Befundo keeps them separate from to-dos, and counts them in a way that doesn't punish a missed day.
The quick answer
- A routine is done every day or every week. A to-do is done once.
- You choose who it's for. With more than one person in the household, nothing is picked for you.
- It counts days done, and never subtracts. A missed day just isn't counted.
- Routines earn no points. They're for the habit, not a reward.
Start a routine
- Open Tasks and press Add a routine on the Routines card. You'll find the same button on your child's page.
- Name it, for example "Read for 20 minutes".
- Under Who for, pick your child. With more than one person, this starts empty until you choose.
- Choose Every day or Every week. A weekly routine asks how many times a week, and you can add minutes too.
- Press Add routine.

Tick it off
Each day or week you tick it off, from Tasks, the Today card or your child's page. A row of dots shows the recent days: filled when it happened, empty when it didn't. Beside the dots is a plain count, for example "1 of the last 7 days". Days before the routine began aren't counted as missed.

Why there's no streak to lose
A streak that resets to zero turns one busy Tuesday into a failure. It makes a child who missed a day feel worse than one who never started. So Befundo only counts what happened. There's no "well done", no trophy, and no number that goes down.
Routines also earn no points. The rewards a class gives are for things a teacher records. A habit at home is its own reward.
The dashboard reminder
Until today's routines are ticked off, your dashboard reminds you they're waiting. If you'd rather not see it, switch off Routine reminders on your dashboard under your account's subscriptions.
Good first routines
If you haven't set one before, Tasks suggests three. Each fills in the form and creates nothing until you say who it's for and press Add routine:
- Read for 20 minutes, every day
- Practice piano, three times a week, fifteen minutes
- Pack the school bag, every day
Keep the first one small. A routine a child manages most days does more than an ambitious one that's missed most days.
A routine for yourself
You can set one for yourself too, like a morning walk or learning a language. Choose your own name under Who for. It counts the same way.
